Every Green Decore outdoor rug is woven from 100% recycled post-consumer polypropylene — turning discarded plastic into durable, design-led floor coverings for outdoor living, leisure and hospitality.
Polypropylene is one of the most widely used plastics on earth — found in food packaging, bottle caps, household goods and industrial products. Most of it is used once, then discarded.
The challenge for the home and garden industry is that outdoor rugs have historically been made from virgin synthetic fibres, contributing more plastic to the world rather than reusing what's already in circulation.
Green Decore was founded on a different approach: take post-consumer polypropylene waste, extrude it into hollow straws, and weave those straws into outdoor floor coverings that last for years. The plastic doesn't disappear — but it does a job, beautifully, for a very long time.
Post-consumer polypropylene waste is collected from verified Indian waste streams — primarily food packaging, bottle caps and household plastics that would otherwise be landfilled or incinerated.
The plastic is cleaned, melted and extruded into hollow tubular straws of precise diameter and wall thickness — a manufacturing process distinct from conventional plastic fibre production.
The straws are woven on specialist looms designed for this construction. The hollow tube structure makes the finished rug lightweight, UV-resistant, easy to clean and reversible — properties virgin synthetic rugs cannot match at the same weight.
Every production batch is processed at a Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified facility, with full chain-of-custody documentation from waste source to finished product available to trade buyers.
Sustainability claims only work in retail when they're specific, verifiable and easy to communicate. Generic "eco-friendly" labels no longer pass consumer scrutiny — and they rarely pass internal compliance scrutiny at major retailers either.
Green Decore gives trade buyers three things that matter for category reviews and ESG reporting: a verifiable claim, a third-party certification, and a clear consumer message.
100% recycled post-consumer polypropylene, documented from waste source to finished product.
GRS, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, ISO 14001 and SMETA — independently audited credentials, not marketing slogans.
"Made from recycled plastic" is a story shoppers understand at the shelf — no jargon, no greenwashing.
We believe trade buyers and consumers are increasingly sceptical of vague environmental claims — and rightly so. Here's what Green Decore products are not, so there are no surprises in category reviews or compliance checks.
Not biodegradable. Polypropylene does not biodegrade. Our rugs are designed for long-life reuse and end-of-life recycling, not composting.
Not carbon-neutral. We have not commissioned a full lifecycle carbon assessment, so we do not make net-zero claims.
Not natural fibre. These are recycled plastic products. Where buyers need natural-fibre alternatives, we are not the right supplier.
Not greenwashed. Every claim on this page is backed by third-party documentation available on request.
